Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also plays music. She received the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and first female recipient. Apart from nine Grammy nominations, she was also the very first Indian-origin musician to perform in the live ceremony. Anoushka is the emerging star of Indian sitar. She is a student and child of Ravi Shankar. Born in London, she spent the first few years of her life traveling between London as well as New Delhi. When she was 13, she gave her first performance on stage in New Delhi. Then she moved into Encinitas CA, where she obtained the High School diploma with honors in 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording. She regularly accompanies her father on stage, which she's done for several years. In 1998, she released her debut solo album Anourag. A year later, she dropped the Grammy nominated Live in Carnegie Hall. She has performed at most major venues around the globe. Anoushka Shakar's work is not just limited to music. She published Bapi, the love of my life in the year 2002. The book is a biography that pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. In addition, she been in the role of. In the 2003 film Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed a Bharat Natyam dancer young girl. Anoushka is still progressing on her path and we can expect many more things to come from this talented woman. Anoushka spent a lot of traveling between London and Delhi during her young years. Then, she relocated to California for high school. In Delhi on his birthday, which was celebrated at the age of 75 Anoushka first made an appearance playing the sitar before the crowd of at the age of four, following her nine year old father. Anoushka performed with her father during his world tour, gained an impressive amount of experience. As a teenager, she performed at Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and recorded alongside George Harrison. In the end, The House of Commons Shield was given an award by the British Parliament in recognition of being the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and is the smallest recipient of the award.
